It was a full house at PFC’s May meeting, and a great night for SPUKES. Russ Anderson, our occasional percussionist and long time friend of SPUKES took some fantastic photos.
At the Saturday Session today Alan played an uptempo version of Tishomingo Blues which he calls the Tishomingo Rag (in the Key of G). For those who missed it, want to try to play along, or just want to hear it again, this is an earlier video he made of the song.
Karen and Alan are running the May Workshop (Ukulele) at the Peninsula Folk Club on Sunday May 5th. In the Concert following the workshop SPUKES will be performing three songs. We hope to see a strong contingent from SPUKES for both the Workshop and the Concert. It’s not often we get to perform in such a social atmosphere.
Karen and Alan received Good Neighbour Awards on Neighbour Day at the Seawinds Community Hub. See SPUKES spirited version of Running Bear in the Men’s Shed.
We’ve changed the way our songbooks are accessed on the website. Our Resources Page now has tabs for Complete Songbooks, Index Pages, and then all the individual song sheets in their own categories.
A group from SPUKES met with Chris Swayn to record backing vocals for the Warrains new song “To The Sea”. Here’s a sneak preview. Come and see the Warrains live at the Blue Mini Cafe, Rosebud, on Friday February 22nd.
