Ukulele techniques workshop

Last May we performed at the Peninsula Folk Club Ukulele themed night and had a great time. The workshop involved learning one of Patrick Evans’ songs – We’re Away, which we all performed at the start of the evening.

The Peninsula Folk Club have invited us back again, on the first Sunday in May (6th May). We are running a ukulele workshop starting around 5 30pm. We have been asked to make the workshop about “Ukulele Techniques”.

We had quite a few SPUKES helping us out last year, and hopefully we will have a good muster this year. We have some excellent songs now and can give an interesting performance.

Internet learning resource

Looking on the internet there is a site we found – https://liveukulele.com>lessons It’s titled “Ukulele techniques: Articulations and ways to play a note”. If any of you find this interesting we would be happy to run through some of the topics.

Other performers

The Peninsula Folk Club members are always friendly and make everyone welcome. The evening goes from 5.30 to 9.30 and meals are available at reasonable prices. The Long Beach Short Strings Uke group will be performing along with other acts. The headline act is The Undertones, a bluegrass band (see below). We know a couple of the members and expect them to be very good.

Can you please let us know if you will be coming along, so we can reserve tables?

Headline act – The Undertones

The Undertones
Formed in early 2018, The Undertones came together after a particularly raucous jam session at the Guilford Banjo Jamboree. Influenced by a shared love of traditional bluegrass and jazz grass, Jim Golding (banjo), Don Gula (bass), Heath Joyce (mandolin) and Tom Wales (guitar) have quickly found their own unique style which encompasses bluegrass and progressive jazz music.
